Day 47 of 62

We drove southwest from Cornwall, following the St. Lawrence river as it became Lake Ontario, stopping briefly for sandwiches at a park, inching our way towards a campground that turned out to be fully booked. We moved further along the coast and finally found an open campground and settled in for the evening. The French name “Presqu’ile”, “almost an island”, describes the place well. This was my first view of the Great Lakes and they’re quite beautiful, so I enjoyed a long walk along the peninsula viewing the water with lots of bicyclists, roller-bladers, and other pedestrians. The sky was still light nearing 11pm as we finished washing dinner dishes and turned in.
