iQuit

It’s official! Well, it’s been official since Monday when I told my boss, but I feel like I can talk about it publicly, now that I’ve told my team and a few fairly close cow-orkers.

I’ve quit. After ~12 years at the same company, I’m moving on. It’s weird, i can still clearly remember being the new kid in the team, full of enthusiasm and with all the subtlety of a Bush in China. Now I find myself as the old dog in the department, finally stepping off the stage.

Right now, I don’t have any concrete plans for the future. I’ve promised myself I won’t take another job in high tech for at least six months. I’m taking a class in Table Shiatsu at De Anza College, and I’m a TA in the Fundamentals of Massage class at BTC. I’ve got some traveling plans in the works, including a big tour of northern Europe, and some vague plans about a big US – Canada roadtrip. But that’s about it. Maybe I’ll get some piercings and work in a coffeeshop. Dunno. One of my long-term career ambitions has been to drive the submarine at DisneyLand, but I just found out they’ve closed that ride. Sigh.

My last day is a week from Friday. Should be an interesting journey. 🙂

    Congratulations. 🙂

Maybe you’ll be in Europe at the same time as us. That’d be cool. Except then I’d have to come back to work, and you’d get to stay. Damn!

I’m glad for you. Really glad for you.

Thank you! Maybe without the constant demands of work, i’ll be a little more sociable and we can actually see each other every once in a while. 🙂 I’d like that a lot.

Well, I actually thought you did this a while ago, so my consciousness thinks you’re doing just fine post-corporate world! 🙂 Good luck, make the most of it, and by all means, Canada!!

    dude! kickass. good for you.

I’m excited for you, but at the same time, as someone who frequently relied on your people skills to “get shit done”, i’m sad to see you go. Your absence will make my job tha much harder…

    have a good time elsewhere.

      Thanks, and sorry

Thanks very much for the kind words. I’m sorry that my absence will make your job (or anyone’s) any harder, but oh well, what can I do. Leav on my team. They are all great people, and are very interested in doing the right thing. Even without me there, I believe they’ll continue to be good people to collaborate with.

Hang in there, and good luck on your own personal plans for the future. You have to stay in touch and let me know if any of that comes to fruitition. I’m pullin’ for ya.
