The last two nights we were fortunate to find camp sites right on the beach.
The Oregon site was at Arizona Beach, somewhere along mile marker 313 on Oregon Highway 101, north of Gold Beach. There’s something very nice about having the window of your bed face immediately out onto the surf and being lulled to sleep by the sound of crashing waves.
The site we found in California was Navarro Beach, apparently a popular site for people gathering fresh abalone. The beach was wonderful, and the weather was grand, but we couldn’t get the bus quite as close to the water as the previous night.
And here’s a picture of me striking up a conversation with a complete and total stranger, in homage to my more extroverted friends, Dan and Tim. I could explain why a man in khakis and a blue blazer was walking the beach 50 miles from nowhere, but the story isn’t as amusing as the picture. Enjoy.
The vessel and crew are home for a few weeks now, doing some maintenance on self, tug boat and psyche, in preparation for the big cruise.

Diggin’ the pictures, sir, keep it up. And safe travels on your Grand Adventure.
