Just over two years in the one of the top bicycling cities in the US, and I&#8217;ve only now gotten back on two wheels. Shameful.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday being a gorgeous day, we took the bikes down to the waterfront for some easy cruising along the esplanade. We followed the waterfront, and crossed the Hawthorne and Steel Bridges multiple times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/brauhze\/BreakingInTheBike\/photo#5196951424172720978\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/brauhze\/SB9HySDGg1I\/AAAAAAAAA-g\/s-Z_fNBHD1g\/s400\/Steel%20Bridge.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/brauhze\/BreakingInTheBike\/photo#5196951333978407714\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/brauhze\/SB9HtCDGgyI\/AAAAAAAAA-I\/3SNRzs97s_Y\/s400\/graffiti.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also biked along the west side to see the Cinco de Mayo festival, then took a break to watch the basketball game in a downtown sports bar. (The Lakers won.) Then back on the bikes and down the east side until we joined the Springwater Corridor trail and followed that for several miles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/brauhze\/BreakingInTheBike\/photo#5196951364043178818\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/brauhze\/SB9HuyDGg0I\/AAAAAAAAA-Y\/qQ0Tg-cIKRk\/s400\/sliced%20rock.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, we turned around and decided we had pedaled enough for my first day back on a bike. I got home and used the most excellent <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.gmap-pedometer.com\/\" target=gMapsPedo>Gmaps pedometer<\/a> mashup tool to trace our path. Thirteen miles.
